Cookie policy

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help websites remember your preferences and understand how you interact with the site. Cookies are widely used across the internet to make websites work efficiently and to provide information to website operators.

Essential cookies

These cookies are necessary for JudoHQ to function and cannot be switched off. They are usually set in response to actions you take, such as signing in or filling in forms. Because they are strictly necessary to provide the service you have asked for, UK law (the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, PECR) does not require your consent for them.

Cookies we use:

  • Authentication cookies — Set when you sign in to keep you signed in, including on your club's subdomain (e.g. yourclub.judohq.co.uk). They hold your session tokens, are refreshed automatically while you use JudoHQ, and are removed when you sign out or your session expires.
  • Notice preference — A cookie named judohq_cookie_notice remembers that you have read the notice above, so we don't show it to you again. It holds nothing but the number 1 — no identifier, no record of who or where you are — and it is set only when you press OK. Because JudoHQ gives every club its own web address, this one is shared across judohq.co.uk and club pages such as yourclub.judohq.co.uk, so answering once is enough for all of them. It lasts a year, or until you clear your browser data.
  • Interface preference — A cookie named sidebar_state remembers whether you keep the dashboard sidebar open or collapsed, so the layout stays the way you left it. It stores only the word “true” or “false” — no personal data — and expires after 7 days.

Analytics cookies

JudoHQ does not use analytics cookies or any third-party analytics SDK. We do not track page views, session duration, or referrers. The only cookies we set are the ones listed above — essential authentication cookies and a small interface preference — none of which track you or are shared with anyone.

Managing your preferences

When you first visit JudoHQ, you'll see a cookie banner. Because we only set essential cookies and a single interface preference (set only when you adjust the sidebar), the banner is informational — there is nothing optional to opt in or out of, and your choice simply dismisses the notice. If we ever introduce non-essential cookies, we will ask for your consent first and update this policy. You can also manage cookies through your browser settings at any time. Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies — check your browser's help section for instructions. Please note that blocking essential cookies may prevent some parts of JudoHQ from working correctly.

Third-party cookies

We do not use any third-party cookies. JudoHQ does not embed third-party tracking scripts, social media widgets, or advertising networks. All cookies set on JudoHQ are first-party cookies controlled by us.

For more information about how we handle your data, please see our Privacy policy.
